Tool Designer I

Description

JOB SCOPE:

●Create and maintain detailed operational processes for parts, sub-assemblies, and engine build ensuring that mistake proofing techniques are incorporated into these processes.

●Utilization of CAD systems for the design, detail, and checking of simple to intermediate level jigs, fixtures, gauges, tools, and simple machines.

●Creation and maintenance of simple to intermediate level CNC programs for multiple axis machine tools including writing, editing, troubleshooting, and correcting tooling/programming problems.

●Tool designer owns process and program until proven out.

●Interface with numerous departments, including but not limited to, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Product Support, Materials, Procurement and Sales. Works across payrolls, functions and shifts to solve problems in a timely manner.

●Provide operational processes, designs, and programs in such a manner that complies with Lycoming processes and procedures to meet customer requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

●Perform assigned work in a safety conscious manner.

●Perform assigned work to specific quality and production standards.

●Maintain equipment, tools, and work area in a clean professional condition.

●Prepare or maintain all documentation necessary for the job classification.

●Perform other duties inherently required of the job classification.

●Must be capable and willing to adopt new technologies and travel up to 10% of the time for training and troubleshooting purposes.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

●Associate degree or two-year certificate program in Tool Technology, Automated Manufacturing, CAM/CNC Programming or equivalent. Previous education or job experience may allow waiver of educational requirements.

●One-year experience preferred.

●Demonstrated proficiency with computers and various types of software including Microsoft office Word and Excel.

●Ability to read and interpret simple to intermediate level blue prints.

●Ability to articulate in both written and spoken communication.
