Do you want to make a positive impact on the lives of older adults?  Luzerne, Wyoming County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is seeking a compassionate and responsible individual for the position of Senior Center Operator 1. In this important role, you will function as an assistant to the Director of a multi-purpose Senior Center that may be designated as a community focal point. This position not only works in conjunction with the Director to further the goals of the center program but also has sole authority to manage and direct the center in the absence of the center's director. As a Senior Center Operator 1, you will be responsible for planning and implementing the special programs and activities for the center, to include events, parties, and escorting groups of seniors on trips. You will have the opportunity to secure speakers for the center's programs in life skills, education, nutrition, tax preparation, and health issues. Work includes maintaining accurate records, statistical reports, and inventory of the center's supplies. Key responsibilities will be ensuring the physical maintenance of the center facility during its normal working hours, handling any emergency situation that may arise, and maintaining the center's equipment, ensuring of its appropriate set-up for the center's functions. The incumbent acts as agency representative in all center related programs involving consumers including responding to questions for information, making referrals to consumers to appropriate human service agencies to obtain benefits and services. Other duties to include but not limited to: Planning and instructing various arts and craft classes Preparing a monthly senior center newsletter Having knowledge of basic first aid and CPR Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
