Geisinger Phlebotomy Team Lead - Full Time Days in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
Job Summary
Leads and coordinates the daily phlebotomy operations, in collaboration with Analytical Specialists, Laboratory Operations Manager and department Associate Vice President. Plans, organizes and directs the activities of section personnel to provide optimal, cost-effective delivery of services according to departmental standards of quality, productivity, and performance.
Job Duties
Sets an example of outstanding Customer Service when interacting with all customers.
Supervises technical and administrative operations for Laboratory phlebotomy staff.
Maintains a staff of qualified personnel to assure quality specimen collection and services.
Selects, instructs and develops employees through careful interviewing, comprehensive training, delegation, and supportive coaching.
Ensures competency of all personnel.
Prepares and monitors annual operating budget for section's cost centers, forecasts workload for revenue projection, meets fiscal requirements.
Collaborates the planning of capital purchases and leases with the Analytical Specialist and Operations Director.
Oversees section purchasing, receiving, and inventory management to reduce costs.
Assures section's compliance with applicable regulations and accrediting standards.
Knows and abides by Medical Laboratories policies and procedures.
Successfully implements changes to operations as needed.
Demonstrates receptiveness to new ideas and successfully helps others through change.
Leads communication with employees through constructive techniques including regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Provides appropriate recognition and acknowledgement of achievement, serves as a role model to the rest of the section team for effective communication.
Actively supports the Quality Program and takes a leadership role in facilitating change to realize noticeable error reduction and service improvement related to pre-analytical quality.
Provides educational direction and opportunities for all levels of staff.
Actively seeks input from Analytical Specialists and staff, motivates them to seek and participate in development opportunities.

Position Details
Hours: 6AM-2:30pm
On-call: N eeds to round with 2nd and 3rd shift.
Required Experience: 10 years of relevant experience

Preferred Experience: 1 year of Managerial/Supervisory experience, interview and recruitment experience is a plus.
