DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising two Supervisor 1s, providing secondary oversight and supervision to seven investigators within the Protective Service (PS) Program, as well as overseeing work of the PS Unit. You will be required to maintain a thorough working knowledge of all the laws, rules, regulations, and operating procedures involved with the Protective Service and all Aging programs and services. You will have the opportunity to act as a liaison with the local Ombudsman and representatives from law enforcement and other legal entities.

General supervisory responsibilities include: Planning, organizing, and assigning all work to staff Analyzing case records for completeness and adherence to established standards Conducting regular case conferences with each care manager Providing guidance to staff on policies and appropriateness of plans Providing information to staff on appropriate resources available to the elderly as well as updating them on new programs or changes in current laws and regulations affecting the provision of services Planning and implementing in-service trainings Evaluating staff performance Interviewing and selecting prospective applicants for employment within the social service department, Completing reports, preparing correspondence, and maintaining necessary records On rotation basis, screening after hours crisis calls

Protective Service responsibilities include: Ensuring cases are investigated Arranging for appropriate services for Protective Service consumers Participates in annual planning and the sub-contracting process Assisting with monitoring designated contracts and reviewing monthly invoices Acting as a liaison with agency sub-contracted providers, providing information and assistance as needed Participating in court interventions for consumers Arranging community education programs on Protective Service regulations and problems related to elder abuse Reviewing and completing data entry Overseeing purging and maintenance of records in accordance with state regulations Serving as back up to supervisor on call after hours Arranges for psychiatric competency evaluations, as needed, for consumers whose capacity is in question Acting as liaison to agency solicitors regarding petitions for appointment of a Guardian

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of experience in public or private social work; and a Bachelor's Degree; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.
