Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the retail industry, based in Whippany, New Jersey. This role involves crucial accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, balance sheet analysis, profit and loss analysis, and audit preparation.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting

• Perform balance sheet analysis, focusing on prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and fixed asset/depreciation

• Carry out profit and loss analysis, specifically on professional fees and miscellaneous expenses

• Prepare for audits by organizing and reviewing financial records

• Utilize Microsoft Excel for financial data management and analysis

• Perform balance sheet reconciliation to verify the accuracy of the financial data

• Manage prepaid expenses and ensure they are recorded accurately in the financial statements. Requirements • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

• Demonstrable experience in Bank Reconciliations

• Proficient in Balance Sheet Reconciliation

• Experience with Prepaid Expense

• Must possess a degree in accounting or a related field

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Proficiency in other Microsoft Office Suite products like Word and PowerPoint

• Experience with accounting software would be an advantage

• Willingness to continue professional development and stay updated with industry trends.
