We are currently bidding on a contract providing support to the Picatinny NEC in improving the functionality of the overall delivery of Information Technology Services (ITS) and Administrative Telephone Services (ATS) on Picatinny Arsenal.

Job Title: Journeyman Network Administrator (DCWF 441)Location: Picatinny ArsenalClearance Required: Secret ClearanceJob Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:As a Journeyman Network Administrator under the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) role 441, you will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining network infrastructures in support of mission-critical operations. This role requires hands-on experience in network administration, a deep understanding of network protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues. The ideal candidate will be proficient in network security practices, ensuring that all systems are compliant with government standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Management & Maintenance:

  • Administer and maintain local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other network infrastructures.

  • Configure and optimize network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

  • Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to maintain optimal network performance and reliability.

  • Network Security:

  • Implement and maintain network security protocols and procedures in accordance with DoD standards.

  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Manage access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems to safeguard the network.

  • Troubleshooting & Support:

  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for network-related issues, ensuring prompt resolution to minimize downtime.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, coordinating with other IT staff as necessary.

  • Document network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.

  • Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure all network systems comply with DoD and organizational policies and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records of network configurations, incidents, and resolutions.

  • Participate in the development and maintenance of network disaster recovery plans.

  • Collaboration & Training:

  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to develop and implement network projects and upgrades.

  • Provide guidance and training to junior network administrators and other IT staff as needed.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in network administration and cybersecurity.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network administration, with a focus on secure and high-performance environments.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco, Juniper, or other network devices.

  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.) and network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, etc.).

  • Experience with network security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.

  • Familiarity with DoD information assurance standards and best practices (e.g., RMF, STIGs).

  • Clearance:

  • Must hold an active Secret Clearance.

  • Certifications:

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in DoD or other government environments.

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud networking.

  • Advanced certifications such as CCNP, CISSP, or equivalent.
