Job Overview:

The Buyer procures items and services on behalf of the organization. They ensure purchasing policies are satisfied in the execution of purchase orders. The Buyer is responsible for obtaining quotes, sourcing, negotiating, cost savings and avoidance, policy compliance, procuring, interfacing with vendors, and end-users. The Buyer will independently balance workload and adhere to timelines and deadlines with a high degree of accuracy. Provide team coverage along with handling special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Two years of purchasing experience.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, possess good communication (written and verbal) skills.

Preferred:

  • Associates degree preferred.

  • Strongly prefer experience within hospitals, with PeopleSoft a plus.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem

  • Day

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews, prepares and processes all requisitions and purchase orders in compliance with policies and guidelines.

  • Completes PO Confirmations and edits/corrects purchase orders / database to ensure a clean PO to payment path.

  • Timely resolves match exceptions and corrects the root cause to avoid more exceptions in the future.

  • Balances workload with minimum interactions with Manager while adhering to timelines and deadlines.

  • Informs management and end-users of delays or complications within the process.

  • Provides team coverage and handles special projects as needed.

  • Process and maintain workload within departmental performance standards.

  • Produces updates, emails, and other communication in a clear and effective manner.

  • Establish and maintain rapport through effective communication and timely follow-up with customers, coworkers, management, and outside agencies/vendors.
