The Department of Human Services is seeking a Chief of Psychiatry to be responsible for the planning, management, coordination, evaluation, and integration of psychiatric services at Wernersville State Hospital. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As Chief of Psychiatry, you will direct psychiatric services by assigning psychiatrists to a consumer area to participate in providing services to meet individual consumer treatment plan objectives. You will write orders for treatment and necessary studies of assigned consumers, make daily rounds, perform necessary psychotherapy and counseling, and formulate treatment plans with the assistance of the Treatment Team. You will also testify as an expert psychiatric witness in legal proceedings regarding consumers. In addition, you will have an opportunity to develop policies and procedures governing the administration of all services and participate on hospital administrative and policy committees requiring psychiatric expertise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Psychiatrist Supervisor; or Two years of experience in psychiatry or child psychiatry, including one year in a supervisory, administrative, or consultative capacity; and completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.

Special Requirement:

You must be in possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners.

Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
