Job Title: Welder
Job Description
The welder is responsible for performing various welding techniques on multiple types of metals, reading and interpreting blueprints, and ensuring the proper handling and finishing of welded parts. The role involves working in a structured and organized environment with a focus on quality and precision.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints from various manufacturing sites with different specifications.
Lay out and fit all parts and components prior to tacking them together for welding.
Perform MIG (GMAW) or FCAW welding techniques on metals including mild steel, carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized steel.
Grind and polish welds after finishing to clean and detail the part before inspection.
Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, hoists, and sit-down forklifts to move parts from material storage or loading areas to the weld cell.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in MIG (GMAW) welding techniques.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
Experience in structural steel welding.
Skill in using fabrication equipment and tools to cut, bend, and grind parts to specification.
Ability to pass a weld test for structural steel welding.
Knowledge of shop math for layout, fitting, and tacking together structural steel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment.
Exposure to magnetic particle testing, die penetrate testing, or X-ray testing of welds.
Consistent work history with non-attendance-based reasons for leaving previous employment.

Work Environment
This is a climate-controlled weld shop organized into cell groups, with each group containing four weld cells. Welders work in the same general area but have their own weld cell. The building has good ventilation, although welding galvanized steel may create a haze from the chemical reaction to the heat. The dress code includes jeans, steel-toed boots, and a work shirt. Personal protective equipment includes safety glasses. The facility has about 40 welders in total.

This is a Contract to Hire 1st shift position based out of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
