Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Quality Engineer II - Films in Wayne, New Jersey

Why do we need you ?

This role utilizes specialized technical know-how to help meet prescribed quality standards. It also assists in maintaining our full quality assurance program. The incumbent shall exhibit good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements and ensure the production of high performance film products with quality, delivery and cost to meet customer's requirements.

Is this job for you ?
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline required - Chemical, Mechanical , Material Engineer preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment - preferably with Quality, Laboratory or other associated technical function.
  • 1+ years of experience supervising and mentoring quality inspectors and technicians.
  • Gauge calibration & Measurement System Analysis knowledge and experience required.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (ability to interpret data and train/coach others in use)
  • ISO-9001/AS-9100 QMS knowledge and experience required.
  • Internal audit experience preferred

To make sure nothing is forgotten

other responsibilities include:

  • Evaluation of quality issues using statistical and problem solving techniques to determine root cause, implement corrective and preventive actions and improve processes.
  • Management of Quality Testing Laboratory (physical, mechanical, analytical testing & evaluations) to support routine & nonroutine material & product testing- both to enable product certification generation & also support product & process improvements.
  • Management of Calibration system (>3000 gages) to ensure viability of critical measuring devices used for product acceptance and process control.
  • Management &; Coordination of Nonconforming Material Control process, including directed efforts at expedient dispositioning of N/C material, HOLD inventory reduction, analysis of N/C material to facilitate root cause corrective actions.
  • Member of the internal auditing team, conduct internal audits, LPAs and assist in tracking audit reports and implement corrective actions.
  • Performs studies to identify process capabilities, developing product inspection and test procedures, and report quality requirements and Meet with customers or suppliers to solve quality issues and customer/supplier audits as required
