Job Overview

This is an onsite-hybrid role, located in the Pittsburg, PA area In this role you will lead the product management activities of components and platforms for surface and underground mining equipment for battery systems. You will work closely with product management & engineering groups in vehicle development centers to understand decarbonization and electrification needs (QDC). You will work with the Decarbonization and Electrification engineering teams and partners to understand potential technical and commercial pathways to satisfy the needs. The main purpose of this role is to create and maintain strategies & roadmaps, manage the buy/build/partner process, develop collaboration partners, initiate related development projects, drive market awareness, and manage the lifecycle of products from concept through end-of-life while optimizing product and program profitability.

Decarbonization is one of the key strategic pillars to both Komatsu and our customers, with a Komatsu objective of 50/50/50% reduction in scope 1-3 emissions by 2030 and net zero by 2050.

Key Job Responsibilities

Lead development of strategy and roadmaps for battery systems to match decarbonization needs while optimizing product and program profitability. Drive collection of voice of customer (primarily development centers) regarding products/service/support needs and map potential technologies to needs across short/mid/long term time horizons. Define the buy, build, partner analysis process for acquiring or developing battery systems. Guide product research and development by evaluating technology and market trends requiring new products, features, or product improvements with vehicle development center teams. Conduct qualitative analysis of product options, preparing development proposal materials and guiding development through the Komatsu process. Develop and maintain strategic plan for battery systems, including market requirements, competitive landscape, gaps, product positioning, lifecycle, pricing, operations footprint and product support plans. Product manage miningbattery system portfolio of products across their lifecycle from initiation through obsolescence while maximizing value for Komatsu group. Develop battery recycle and circularity concept. Optimize product and program profitability. Ensure adherence tocompany policies to sustain maximum operating efficiency including safety, environmental and quality policies. Actively improve the processes and policies of the organization using the Komatsu Way principles.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required Skills A bachelor's degree in engineering or business is required. Extensive equivalent knowledge of mining applications, equipment and technology can be substituted for degree. Product lifecycle management with experience in Product Management. Strong presentation skills and ability to present complex concepts, 30% travel, both domestic and internationally. Travel includes collaboration with customers, distribution, key technology partners and other Komatsu locations. Preferred Skills Negotiations and partner development. Direct experience in mining or other similar heavy industries, as it relates to the types of equ pment used in the industry. Broad knowledge of the mining business on a global basis. Firm grasp of mining industry practices in connection with market trends, new products and services. Commercialization experience with BaaS. Knowledge of key decarbonization technologies (i.e. battery, hydrogen, power electronics, static charging, dynamic power transfer, software systems).
