Beacon Light Behavioral Health System is looking for a Part-time Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery oriented peer support services. The specialist will establish a trusting, respectful relationship with peers through the sharing of life experiences with mental illness or the mental health system. The primary responsibility of a peer specialist is to assist individuals identify and achieve their recovery goals, identify strengths and barriers in their mental health recovery, assist in developing recovery strategies and tools, and providing link to community resources. Peer Support is a program that provides individualized recovery-focused intervention to adults to enhance development of natural supports, coping mechanisms and other skills necessary to function as independently and successfully as possible in the community.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

- - Be a self identified individual who is in recovery and who has received or is receiving state priority group services - Have a high school diploma or GED - Have maintained, within the past three years, either:

```{=html} ``` - - At least 12 months of successful full or part-time paid employment - At least 12 months of voluntary work experience - or one year of post-secondary education ```{=html} ``` - Complete and pass a Certified Peer Specialist certification training program including written examination, which is offered in accordance with guidelines defined by OMHSAS, DPW. ```{=html} ``` - - If considered for this position, BLBHS will assist in training coordination and cost associated with the training. ```{=html} ``` - - If considered for this positions, BLBHS will assist in applying for and the payment of these clearances.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires an active driver's license and a DMV check that is clear. Position may require travel in the communities served or state of Pennsylvania for position requirements 25-50% of the time.
