2024 Hiring Salary: $85,685/year.

Madison County seeks a full-time Deputy Director of Solid Waste Management responsible for assisting in the planning of departmental activities and the provision of direction and administrative oversight to the Department of Solid Waste projects. The incumbent will supervise and coordinate engineering operations as well as oversee all phases of projects from inception through completion, including design, drafting and layout. The work is completed under the administrative supervision of the Director of Solid Waste Management. The position exercises direct and functional supervision over all subordinate department employees in the Department. The incumbent performs related work as required. THIS IS A TESTED CIVIL SERVICE POSITION

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either: (A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four year college or university with a Bachelors Degree, or higher, in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Engineering Science or closely related field and three (3) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, experience in the field of public works, solid waste or recycling management; OR (B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four year college or university with a Bachelors Degree, or higher, and five (5) years of full-time paid, or its part-time equivalent, experience as described in (A) above; OR (C) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or business school with an Associates degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Engineering Science or closely related field and five (5) years of experience as described in (A); OR (D) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or business school with an Associates degree and seven (7) years of experience as described in (A); OR (E) An equivalent combination of training and experience as described by the limits of (A), (B), (C) and (D) above.
