The Lab Analytical Specialist is responsible for multiple activities that provide technical assistance in the lab, including reading, understanding, and implementing Lactalis lab procedures, support and assessment of routine testing (Butterfat using Gerber, solids using a moisture oven, and protein using the Sprint.), equipment operation monitoring and overseeing its preventive maintenance; completing evaluations (ring tests); statistical data analysis of raw materials, products, and processes; providing facilities support for shipment of quality products

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

· Reads, understands, and implements Lactalis lab procedures independently with minimal support.

· Supports the calibration coordinator in the analysis of variances and statistical deviations and use the information as input for reviewing the analytical processes

· Manages the Lactoscopes monitoring program (FT1)

· Analyses data related to the approval of production equipment sanitation, start up, and performance using statistical tools.

· Understands data and detects trends related to raw material, in-process and finished product chemistry, micro and physical analyses. Measures the statistical deviations and takes actions to reduce defects and errors, minimizing variation, increasing quality and efficiency (i.e. 6 Sigma)

· Does first level investigation for on hold material, and anomalies in test results. Proposes and implements actions for correction working together with the Lab Manager

· Collects and analyses data from Sensory Grading Table calculating standard deviations and proposing new testing and improvements in the process.

· Supports in the evaluation of results in real time to determine if results fall within the expected range and troubleshoot testing if not.

· Provides back-up in activities related to this position as needed.

· Maintains inventory for the lab and alerts manager if inventory runs low.

· Analyzes and evaluates samples results from each step of production.

· Performs various tests including ATP, allergen, antibiotics, butterfat, microbiology, pH, temperature, total solids for validation or improvement of lab methodologies.

· Supports the environmental pathogen program, analyses results and recommends modifications.

· Generates reports as needed and data analysis to calculate statistical deviations

· Supports Lab Manager with other tasks as assigned.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

· Associate degree or higher in Laboratory, Life or Food Sciences.

· Three to five years’ experience preferred in a food/pharma lab performing analytical testing/ quality evaluation in a manufacturing environment.

· Strong Statistical knowledge.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including the ability to present business information in a group setting.

· Knowledge of GLP and ISO (22000, 17025) is strongly preffered .

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of data management systems (e.g. SAP)

· Ability to work independently.

· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.

· Ability to operate in a team environment.

· Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.

· Ability to work schedule, overtime, off-shifts and weekends as needed.
