New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking a Quality Control Specialist to support in the day-to-day management and evaluation of the Distribution Integrity Management Plan (DIMP) included, but not limited to, tracking and reviewing leaks reports, monitor compliance updates and assisting with submitting the required regulatory reports. Also, responsible for material tracking including evaluation of material defects, creating new material codes and inspecting contractor storerooms.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist with submitting regulatory required reporting which will require confirming all required reports under NJAC and PHMSA guidelines are submitted within the required timeframe.

  • Tracking and reviewing company leaks reports.

  • Assist annual contractor storeroom inspections to assure inventory is stored as per procedure to minimize damage.

  • Support Quality and Standards as needed in evaluating new products and/or processes.

  • Support and interface with Operations and Engineering Departments in evaluating risk model.

  • Maintain Operator Qualification as required for Job Description.

  • Plan and control work activities to provide an accident-free workplace.

  • Maintain a safe work environment by following company approved safety requirements and using company issued safety equipment.

  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by direct supervisor and department head.

Position Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applied sciences such as mathematics, chemistry, engineering etc. required.

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience preferably with a gas utility is required.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal, and analytical skills are required.

  • Must complete company defined Operator Qualification requirements.

  • Must be detail-oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines.

  • Travel required to job sites, contractor and company storerooms, vendors facilities etc. some out of state travel + travel for training purposes (50%).

This position is deemed safety-sensitive under the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s regulations. Among other things, employees in this position are subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing and post-accident testing. PHMSA-required drug tests include testing for marijuana. The use of marijuana, or testing positive for marijuana, is disqualifying and will lead to removal from performing safety-sensitive functions as well as disciplinary action.
