The jailer position is a civilian, part-time on call position. They are assigned to an eight-hour shift and must be available to report to the building within 30 minutes of being called. Jailers are paid for the number of hours they work. UDPD provides monitoring of prisoners for Upper Darby, Millbourne, Pennsylvania State Police, and SEPTA Police. Applicants must have a high school diploma, pass a criminal background check, and be prepared to react calmly and professionally to all detainees.

Duties include but are not limited to: Administrative support to police and staff Searching detainees for contraband Inventory of detainee belongings Documenting detainee movement throughout the building Monitoring detainees through video and personal visual contact
