JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Centinari lab (https://centinarilab.squarespace.com/) in the Department of Plant Science at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to study dormancy and cold tolerance in multiple Vitis species. This position will be located at Penn State in University Park. The postdoctoral fellow will complete a project that investigates the role of abscisic acid (ABA) in regulating grapevine dormancy and cold tolerance with a focus on the impacts of climate change in these processes.

The candidate should have a strong background in horticulture, perennial plants biology and eco-physiology, proficiency in using technology to evaluate plant dormancy and cold tolerance parameters, and demonstrated experience integrating plant metabolomic, transcriptomic, and physiological data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important. Preferred candidates will have the following strengths: the ability to conduct field- and greenhouse-based research independently; a track record of performing comparative research on plant genotypes; an interest in student mentorship and outreach; and a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications.

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Horticulture, Plant Physiology, Ecology, or related discipline(s) and be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire. This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding.
