JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Exercise Psychology Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology, College of Health and Human Development, under the direction of Dr. Danielle Downs, is seeking a part-time Research Assistant to assist with recruitment and data collection protocols for laboratory studies with human subjects that focus on topics such as maternal obesity, healthy behaviors (e.g., physical activity, sleep, energy intake), psychological well-being, and related behaviors. Study protocols are delivered to women during pregnancy and postpartum and utilize multimodal approaches including in-person, at-home, remote/telehealth, and online data collection procedures. The successful candidate should possess exemplary organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately, and working closely with others, are essential. The job necessitates meeting deadlines and working on study tasks that may require flexible work hours.

The successful candidate for this position will be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Assist with participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, monitoring/tracking, compliance, fidelity monitoring, retention, and forecasting of data collection procedures

  • Communicate with participants by phone, mail, email, and text to coordinate data collection, participant compensation, and answering questions

  • Collaborate with research team members on data preparation, collection, and management utilizing secure online data capture platforms such as REDCap, Excel, and a digital intervention platform, and preparing data summaries and visualizations using software programs such as Excel, Power BI, and SPSS

  • Participate in team meetings

Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and organizing study materials, and assisting with IRB protocols

  • Training participants to use mHealth devices and other technology essential for study participation

  • Assisting with manuscript, presentation, and grant submission documents

Experience with human research participants, longitudinal data collection protocols, participant recruitment protocols, internet technology, Microsoft Office, Excel, and other database management programs is required. Experience with remote data capture (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics) software (and/or a willingness to train and learn how to use these methods) is preferred. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential for frequent interaction with research participants, investigators, and staff at multiple locations.

This is a part-time (Monday-Friday) position with approximately 10-15 hours per week. Participant recruitment will be conducted nationally using online platforms. Applicants must be comfortable working with digital technologies.
