Job Title: Chipper Operator Overview: The Chipper Operator drives, maneuvers and controls the machinery used to apply surface treatment to roads. Once the asphalt is applied, it is immediately followed by an application of aggregate, which is rolled and compressed onto the roadway.Safety Expectations: All Suit-Kote employees are required to comply with all safety rules and to observe safe work practices and operating procedures at all times. Whenever on Suit-Kote property or job sites, or operating Suit- Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.Responsibilities/Job Duties:•Operate the Chipper and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. •Torching and welding as needed•Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area. •Operate machine around structures in tight places•Operate Chipper+ on public or private roadways, maintaining proper awareness of ones surroundings. •Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth and safe operation of the grinder.Required Skills/Abilities:•Reliable transportation to and from work •Strong work ethic•Physical Organization and time management •Flexibility in hours - overtime and weekend hours may be necessary•Must have or be willing to obtain an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certificate•Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required and a background check will be conductedPhysical Requirements:•Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds•Observe and comply with necessary PPE requirements•Must be able to work in a noisy area with many odors present•Bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing and squattingOther Preferred Qualities:•Ability to read and understand SDS •Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) •High school diploma or GED •Basic mathAdditional Duties:This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed.
