General Description

The Utility Person is responsible for providing the shop floor with the materials required to run production.  He or she will be responsible for material handling, shipping and receiving the product, and keeping the plant clean and organized inside and outside.

Specific Duties

• Follow all applicable environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately report all dangerous situations, near-misses, and injuries.
• Participate in developing and updating risk assessments and review all applicable risk assessments annually.
• Safely operate a forklift
• Effectively run the chip machine.
• Maintain the skid area.
• Maintain the drum area.
• Safely use manual and electric pallet jacks.
• Keep a clean and organized work area.
• Communicate well with other team members.
• Be flexible with working in other departments/plants when needed.

• Follow instruction from the Shift Leader, Supervisor, or Manager.

Qualifications

• Work well with other employees.
• Previous experience working in a production environment preferred.
• Forklift certification is a plus.
• Basic computer/PC skills is a plus.
• Valid Driver's License

• Must be able to work in an un-airconditioned environment for a minimum of 8 hours per day.

   

Personal Protective Equipment

The following list of PPE is required while in the manufacturing area. 

• Safety Glasses conforming to ANSI Z87.1 or higher 
• Steel Toe Safety Shoes conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910 
• Hearing protection conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
