Ford Motor Company Government Affairs Director, EV Sales in Trenton, New Jersey

Ford is looking for Government Affairs Director, EV Fleet sales. This role will partner with the Government Affairs Team to build, accelerate, and execute on Ford’s EV sales strategy to federal, state, local government purchases in addition to universities, non-profits, hospitals and similar non-commercial customers. The role will have a direct impact on progressing our Company’s Transformation, EV strategy, and financial success through identifying and securing new EV business sales opportunities.

This role will report directly to the Ford’s Chief Government Affairs Officer and will serve for a minimum duration of 24-months with the desired intent to integrate the role as permanent based on achievement of Company sales objectives and future EV customer demand creation. This role requires travel and a high degree of collaboration with internal and external stakeholders / customers but does not require a daily on-site presence with the Washington DC or Southeast Michigan facilities.

What you'll do...

  • Partner with cross -functional teams to co-develop and execute a comprehensive EV sales business development strategy focused on the government, non-profit, and public institutions in alignment with the Company's financial and strategic goals.

  • Manage the EV sales pipeline for the above segments, from demand identification / generation to closure, ensuring consistent progress and achievement of EV sales goals.

  • Drive sales revenue and set the framework for growth of the business.

  • In partnership with the Government Affairs team, monitor and influence government (Federal, State, and Local) projects and policies that have a potential near or longer-term impact to the business.

  • Engage with key stakeholders (potential customers) around EV solutions to address their challenges, to anticipate and meet their operational needs.

  • Develop and cultivate strategic relationships with potential EV customers with the intent of securing new contracts and positioning Ford as a preferred, trusted EV solutions provider.

  • Prepare regular reports on EV sales, market trends, and strategic initiatives. Use data and analytics to drive and optimize strategic business decisions – Where to Play, How to Win.

  • Partner with Marketing and Sales Field Operations Teams to enhance self-acumen around EV products and services portfolio as well as engaging dealership support around potential customer orders and product-related questions.

You'll have...

  • Strong background (minimum 5+ years) in automotive sales, account management, and EV product and policy environments.

  • Successful track record of developing, implementing, and achieving sales targets.

  • Understanding of these new customer entities, their processes for procuring vehicles, as well as primary obstacles.

  • Ability to develop and cultivate strategic relationships with various potential customers.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to facilitate the execution of business results.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Always-on mindset regarding the EV landscape.

Even better, you may have...

  • Experience within the Automotive industry.

  • Knowledge of state and federal procurement laws.

  • Prior vehicle acquisition/procurement experience for the government or one of these other markets.

  • Certifications in sales, government contracting, or related areas (e.g., Federal Sales Training, Certified Government Sales Professional).
