The Department of Human Services, Torrance State Hospital is seeking Social Worker 1s to add to their dedicated social services team. We are looking for resourceful, energetic, and compassionate social workers to provide support to individuals within an inpatient psychiatric setting.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Social Worker 1, you will conduct admission assessments, provide direct clinical contact support to patients, and serve as a contact for community providers and family members in the best interest of the patients being served. Additionally, you will provide social work consultation to other professional disciplines and the patient's assigned treatment team.

In this position, you will interview the patient, their family members or legal guardians, and external agency representatives to obtain and record information regarding the patient's physical, mental, and emotional status. You will assess the patient's psychosocial strengths, weaknesses, social work service needs, and eligibility for services. A key principle in providing services will be to advise patients and their family members or legal guardians about their progressing status and encourage their support and input.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. May change based on operational needs. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's or master's degree in social work or social welfare. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
