Description

The Lead Toddler Teacher will lead the daily operation of the classroom, including supervising a team comprised of Teacher Assistant(s).

Summary of Responsibilities:

Re sponsibilities include leading all daily functions of the classroom, including setting up of activities, meals, toileting, and cleaning.  Lead the classroom team in classroom management, utilizing programmatic and individual strategies designed to reach educational goals. Lead the classroom team in working with children on a one-to-one basis as well as small groups.

Duties include:

  • Maintain an orderly, predictable, and safe classroom and environment;

  • Develop professional, positive, and productive relationships with children, families, agency staff, visitors, outside agencies, and the general public;

  • Follow appropriate daycare regulations;

  • Lead the classroom team in the daily running of the classroom;

  • Direct the implementation of classroom activities;

  • Communicate effectively with team members and families;

  • Cooperate with other staff members to maintain standards of professionalism throughout the center;

  • Attend workshops, conferences, and in-service training programs as required;

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Supervisor.

     

Qualifications & Benefits

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field, OR Infant Toddler Child Development Associate Credential OR Child Development Associate Credential OR 9 college credits in Early Childhood Development with a prescribed plan of studying to completion of above requirements.

  • 2 years of experience with young children required

  • Experience working with children with disabilities preferred.

  • Must have good health and agility to perform interactively with young children, and be able to express a supportive, caring demeanor to relate sensitively to children with special needs.

  • Must also be flexible and able to adapt to a variety of classroom settings.
