SUNY Upstate Medical University Assistant Nurse Manager - Ambulatory in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations of the assigned ambulatory Upstate Urology area(s) in order to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. The Assistant Nurse Manager will have direct supervisory responsibilities of each clinical team member to include medical assistants, licensed practical nurses and the clinic registered nurses. Scheduling of staff to assigned areas of coverage, liaison to multidisciplinary members to include medical providers, clerical members and ancillary staff. Personnel management to include hiring, performance reviews and all aspects of conflict resolution and disciplinary measures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Nursing or Masters degree in Nursing required. NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN required. Two years of post-licensure acute care experience (preferably in specialty area) required. CPR-BLS successfully completed before hire. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Nursing Leadership certification is strongly preferred. Other specialty-based certifications for nursing leadership (i.e. CCRN, CEN) are also encouraged and supported. Previous outpatient RN experience preferred. Prior leadership experience preferred.
