SUNY Upstate Medical University Assistant Hyperbaric Safety Officer in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Assistant Hyperbaric Safety Officer provides professional hyperbaric care to patients/families and the community through planning and implementing patient care in conjunction with licensed staff. Works together with unit leadership and Safety Officers to assess, implement, maintain, and document the hyperbaric safety program to ensure continued successful accreditation cycles. The Assistant Hyperbaric Safety Officer exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures. Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and trainings in support of the Hyperbaric Safety Program. Acts on behalf of the Hyperbaric Safety Officer when the officer is not available. Assists Hyperbaric Safety Officer with activities to support patients receiving hyperbaric treatment. Maintains operational records for all hyperbaric program equipment, trouble shoots equipment issues, removes chambers from service if unsafe, and assists in scheduling preventative maintenance & calibration. Assist/conduct hyperbaric safety in-service trainings. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related healthcare experience or Associates degree and 5 years of related healthcare experience required. Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) or Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN) qualifying pathway criteria must be met. CHT or CHRN certification and Hyperbaric Safety Training must be successfully completed when eligible or within one year of hire. Current CPR-BLS and CPR-ACLS certification required by time of appointment. Excellent communication and organizational skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT), Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN) certification, Hyperbaric Safety Officer training, and hyperbaric experience preferred.
