Atlantic Health System Assistant Nurse Manager - Full-time Day, Parent Education, Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey

Responsible for promoting and restoring patient's health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs and providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.

  2. Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.

  3. Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care.

  4. Maintains and manages nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.

  5. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families and promoting patient's independence by establishing patient care goals and providing information to patients and health care team by answering questions and requests.

  6. Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.

  7. Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records and maintains patient confidence by monitoring confidential information processing.

  8. Achieves financial objectives and ensures emergency equipment availability/nursing supplies and completing preventive maintenance requirements.

  9. Maintains professional and technical knowledge and maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams.

  10. Ensures all on-the-job training is consistent with guidelines established.

  11. Ensures that site trainers/preceptors have the knowledge, tools, and attitude to effectively train staff.

  12. Acts as both a formal and informal consultant, assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing practice and serving as a resource by assisting nurses in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options

  13. Works with the Operations team in identifying changes that should be made in the nursing practice and facilitating the initiation of, adoption of, and adaption to change. Strives for excellence in patient care by self-monitoring and, as necessary, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient. Identifies existing and potential problems and takes effective actions.

  14. Develops and maintains an awareness of needed improvements in patient care, procedures, equipment and supplies and makes recommendations.

  15. Assist with developing, improving, and directing strategies around maternity education platforms including Parent education classes, virtual visit program, nursing education program.

  16. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required:

  1. BSN required.

  2. BLS and ACLS Certification.

  3. 2-5 years of experience in Nursing, or relevant area which includes experience in Basic Dysrhythmia.

  4. HRO training.

  5. Must possess proficiency in computer-based data management programs and Information systems (EPIC, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  1. MSN preferred.

  2. Specialty Certification preferred

  3. 1-2 years of experience in Nursing management
