DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Service Aide, you will be responsible for assisting professional casework staff with scheduling and monitoring of unit client visitation. Work includes supervising visits, communicating with caseworkers, providing detailed documentation, transporting children to visits, as well as testifying at court hearing regarding visits. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with various social service agencies to provide quality care and services. Additional responsibilities include: Performing urine drug screenings Assisting with handling case materials, correspondence, as well as securing birth certificates and social security cards Traveling with caseworkers and assisting with client appointments Registering and withdrawing children from school Attending child welfare trainings

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Travel is required, expenses will be paid Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a County Social Services Aide 1; or Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
