ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates the daily operations of the Facilities Department.

  • Conducts interviews for Facilities new hires, provides resources for employee training, completes employee evaluations.

  • Coordinates and monitors the Facilities departmental operating budget allocations and prepares reports for the Director.

  • Meets daily at the beginning and end of the day with the Supervisor II.

  • Oversees in house priorities, scheduling of minor construction and renovation.

  • Issues maintenance work request for the campus and provides construction/renovation inspections.

  • Serves as campus Emergency Management Representative, including inclement weather emergencies. This position has been deemed “Essential”, requiring the staff member to be on-site when needed.

  • Confirms preventative maintenance program is completed as assigned.

  • Monitors campus compliance with regulatory agencies regarding building and safety code requirements.

  • Evaluates employees for their probationary period and annual evaluations in a timely manner. Issues disciplinary action, when necessary, in accordance with Rowan University policies.

  • Monitors and administers the work control system.

  • Makes sure all federal, state and Rowan University regulations, laws and policies are exercised as they presently exist and as they change.

  • Ensures that the Facilities staff is trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.

  • Assumes duties of the Director of Facilities in his absence.

  • Acts as a role model for customer service and improved quality.

  • Responsible for shared on call duties with the Supervisor II.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Ten years’ experience in Facilities Operations. Higher education or healthcare is a plus. Three (3) years of experience in management or administration within higher education or healthcare preferred. Must have experience in one or more trades. Outstanding human relations and leadership skills are also required. Experience working in a Union environment preferred. A valid Driver’s License is required. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft applications.
