Stony Brook Medicine (Stony Brook University Hospital) Assistant Director Materials Management in Stony Brook, New York


Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine the Assistant Director Materials Management supports the Director in the daily operation of the Materials Management department in the absence of the Director, plan organizes and directs the activities of the department.

Duties of The Assistant Director Materials Management may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Running Inventory Data and Utilization Reports to Monitor an Inventory System Monthly to reduce expenditures.
  • Monitor Reptrax (vendor management) system to ensure that vendors are following Policy and Procedures and hold a valid ID badge while in the Hospital.
  • Schedule and Coordinate Inventory dates with Staff
  • Monitor and review departmental Time & Attendance staffing matters, handles all departmental Labor relation matters, oversee departmental scheduling, etc.
  • Serves on PMC (Product Management Committees)
  • Handles tasks when assigned
  • Such duties include but not limited to ACP (Ambulatory Care Pavilion) & Photocopy Operations, staffing, evaluations, etc..
  • Serves on the EOC (Environment of Care) & Policy Committees
  • Handle task as assigned
  • Meets with nursing to discuss usage, makes recommendations for appropriate pars on the 2 bin system.
  • Utilizes data from inventory to produce report for Director
  • Inventory of the blades, replenish blade stock from vendors (Laryngoscope Blades Airway program)
  • Supply Code Carts and Intubations boxes appropriately
  • Participate and Communicate with the Code Blue Committee
  • Oversee any/all future trials of /for new blade products.
  • Oversees the Department's operations when the Director is absent
  • Handheld Scanner Barcoding
  • Supply Utilization Review/ Data Reports
  • Oversees the Annual Physical Inventory
  • Assist's with the Budget process
  • Participates with Departmental cost savings initiatives
  • Conducts interviews as part of the recruitment process for new Employees
  • Handles Personnel issues to ensure compliance with Hospital standards
  • Prepares Data analytics for the Directors review
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Inventory Control and Warehouse experience 5 years +
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Materials Management Inventory Control (5+ years)
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Inventory Control and Warehouse experience in a Hospital Setting

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 5 panel drug screen
  • Successfully complete a Background Check investigation.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
