COMPENSATION:

$126,204 - $179,128 (EXE/1040 Hay Points)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for providing executive direction and coordinating functions of Power/Third Rail, Track, Signals, Infrastructure, Electrical/Electronic Maintenance departments, Information Technology and Enterprise Asset Management. Directs subordinates in day-to-day performance of inspection, maintenance, and construction of SIR buildings/facilities. Responsible for oversight and implementation of new electronic systems. Oversees preparation and review of all specifications for major MOW capital construction projects. Participates in performance of capital funding needs analyses. Responsible for establishing processes and implementing asset management. Ensures strategic initiatives are developed and implemented such as the EAM Maintenance management system. Oversees maintenance planning during emergencies.

Represents SIR with other agencies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A baccalaureate degree in Transportation Management, Public Administration and twelve (12) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience, nine (9) years of which must have been in a managerial or supervisory capacity; -OR

A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Proficient in managing, directing, and controlling a large multi-faceted transit operation.

  • Proficient leadership and project management skills, ability to develop and manage strategic initiatives.

  • Strong adaptability and change management skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of railroad signal systems and high-tension power systems.

  • Strong knowledge of rapid transit operations and rolling stock procedures.

  • In-depth knowledge of Staten Island Railway policies and procedures.

  • Strong knowledge of NYCT rules and regulations.

  • Solid background in the building and construction trades.

  • In-depth knowledge of track maintenance and construction procedures.

  • Knowledge of schematics.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office Suites.

Selection Method

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
