SUMMARY AccuWeather is seeking a Freelance Content Writer to join the Digital Editorial Content team during Hurricane Season from July - September, 2024.  The Freelance Content Writer will be responsible for producing compelling and informative content that aligns with the AccuWeather brand. This role involves identifying and pulling articles from our partners, uploading them to AccuWeather.com, staying on top of trending weather news and social media trends, pitching story ideas, and writing short articles and blog posts that engage our audience. The writer will monitor local news stories in areas where hurricanes are forecast to landfall and create short, compelling posts for the live blog. The ideal candidate should have excellent writing skills, a strong understanding of grammar and syntax, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. This a paid and freelance position from late July - late October, 2024 and is approximately 80-100 hours per 30 days.  The position is remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES Research and write high-quality content for AccuWeather.com, including hurricane-related blog posts for live blogging during landfall. Meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Collaborate with co-workers to determine their content needs and preferences. Edit and revise content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Use SEO best practices to optimize content for search engines. Manage your own workload and prioritize tasks effectively. Stay updated on trending weather news and fun social media trends. Pitch story ideas that align with the AccuWeather brand. QUALIFICATIONS Excellent writing and editing skills, utilizing AP Style Guide. Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong research skills. Experience in content creation. Ability to work independently. Previous experience as a freelance writer. Portfolio of writing samples. Knowledge of SEO and content marketing. Experience with different writing styles and formats.
