What You Will Do Here:

The primary responsibility of the Finishing/Packaging Operator is the set-up, operation, maintenance and cleaning of all finishing equipment including the saws, roll cases, beltways and grade bins as well as all packaging equipment. The operator also has the responsibility of ensuring that the quality of the product meets or exceeds the customer's specifications both internal and external. Additionally the position is responsible for the labeling, inventory, and putting away of all finished material in the proper warehouse location. The operator will be required to identify conditions which may lead to substandard quality or up-time and initiate the proper corrective action.

What You Need To Succeed:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certification
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, stress, provide detailed work, sound reasoning, and meet required deadlines
  • The ability to be flexible in duties, analytical, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be exceptionally self-motivated and directed, organized, with a keen attention to detail
  • The ability to read/ use metric measurements
  • Basic Computer Skills -- Ability to understand computer programs to input, monitor, research, log issues, and track orders  according to customer requirements
  • Follow up on issues assigned to this position until completion
  • Inspect, document, and maintain the finishing area and other areas of the plant to ensure quality is not impacted. This includes, but is not limited to, length, width, squareness and thickness of product.
  • Ensure all finished packaged units have the correct piece count, proper packaging, and appearance meets specifications.
  • Work closely with all team members, supervisors and leadership regarding daily production as well as identify, report and correct existing or potential quality issues, productivity improvements, cost reduction initiatives, or safety hazards
  • Comply with safety expectations, perform routine safety inspections of area assigned, and report and correct existing or potential safety hazards
  • Offer availability for periodic overtime and/or assist or fill in for other positions as required
  • This position is required to work a rotating shift schedule, this may include weekends and Holidays.

What Will Put You Ahead: (not required)

  • Previous experience operating a forklift
  • Previous work experience in an industrial manufacturing environment

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:  Activities and Safety Equipment

  • Sitting, standing on concrete, walking, climbing, heavy lifting, push/pulling, reaching, bending, vision, hearing, dexterity of hands and fingers, and written and verbal communication.
  • Face shield/goggles, dust mask/ respirator, hard hat, ear plugs, and high visibility vest required
