UPMC Patient Care Technician - Behavioral Health in Seneca, Pennsylvania
Primary Responsibilities:
Provides direct patient care, including assisting with procedures and activities of daily living (ADLs).
Supports physical therapies.
Reports changes in patient status and provides feedback to the RN.
Performs core nursing assistant responsibilities, including blood glucose monitoring, weights, vital signs, intake and output (I&O), specimen collectionProfessional Development & Communication:
Actively receives feedback and direction for continuous improvement.
Identifies and communicates learning needs to the unit director and seeks opportunities to enhance skills.
Engages in self-review and professional development as requested.
Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team, demonstrating cultural awareness and professional behavior.Patient Instruction & Safety:
Provides patient and family instruction under RN direction.
Applies, monitors, and removes patient restraints per physician or hospital protocol.
Strictly adheres to all patient care policies and hospital information security standards.
Complies with all safety procedures, including standard precautions.Documentation & Administrative Duties:
Documents patient care and observations in the medical record following established procedures.
Completes department clerical functions as needed.
Performs assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.Additional Expectations:
Actively supports department initiatives, process improvements, and quality projects.
Demonstrates accountability, enthusiasm, and commitment to patient care and team collaboration.
Assumes responsibility for assignments, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must meet one of the following criteria:
(a) One year of general healthcare experience, OR
(b) Six months of experience as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA, with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire, transfer, or promotion, OR
(c) Enrollment in a PT, OT, PA, or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation, OR
(d) Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field.
Successful completion of the UPMC Patient Care Technician class.
Successful completion of basic information system training.
Microcomputer experience preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic certification preferred, or current enrollment in an EMT or Paramedic program.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire ACLS preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
