NURSE EDUCATOR
Part time (20 hrs/week)
The Nurse Educator is responsible for delivering orientation, continuing education, and ongoing support to nursing staff, using expert knowledge and educational skills to assess, plan, and implement essential programs for staff development and growth.
Responsibilities:
Builds strong relationships internally and externally through mentoring, positive communication, and trust.
Communicates clearly to engage and ensure understanding, managing expectations.
Actively participates in quality improvement efforts and uses evidence-based practices to enhance care.
Provides constructive feedback, mentors new staff, and supports preceptors' success.
Serves as a resource for patients and staff, contributing to performance improvement initiatives.
Demonstrates initiative, aligns priorities with organizational goals, and maintains certifications.
Facilitates orientation and education programs to guide staff in patient care management.
Leads development of nursing standards and policies to improve care.
Takes a leadership role in hospital-wide projects and supports staff competency verificatio
BSN Required (BSN waived if MSN obtained in program not conferring BSNs)
Minimum of 3 years of clinical (RN) experience
Relevant teaching experience strongly preferred
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireUPMC approved certification preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Registered Nurse (RN)
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
