Fabcon Precast Regional Safety Manager in Selkirk, New York
Description
Purpose/Scope
Responsible for leading Fabcon’s EHS efforts in the region. This includes the planning, implementation, and supervision of EHS policies and procedures, and programs to ensure Fabcon is following legal and regulatory requirements and provides a safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly place to work. This position has direct reports and is responsible for the direct supervision and leadership development of these team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work with local management in the region to execute the overall EHS improvement strategy for the plant and construction operations
Lead the implementation of Fabcon’s Safety Excellence and Leadership (SEAL) roadmap at all locations in the region
Assist in the leadership of identifying, controlling, and eliminated workplace hazardous conditions and unsafe employee activities
Develop, implement, and conduct EHS training programs
Lead and conduct work area EHS inspections/audits and ensure compliance to regulatory and Fabcon standards
Develop action plans to address safety issues and environmental compliance
Conduct field Site Safety Assessments (SSA’s)
Lead the incident investigation process
Manage all EHS documentation to include such things as incident investigations, training, permits, etc.
Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted per established procedures, and implement corrective action as required
Audit and complete environmental reports i.e. Storm Water Permit, Air Quality Permit, etc.
Maintain all EHS regulatory permits and ensure compliance
Lead environmental sustainability efforts in the region
Conduct prestart safety reviews
Manage return to work/modified duty program
Managing Workers Compensation (WC) claims for the region
Ensure that company facilities and practices are in compliance with government EHS regulations
Make recommendations to senior management regarding compliance to local, state, and federal regulatory industries
Ensure adherence to safety standards in all areas and departments and advise management on needed actions
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reading and attending continuing education workshops for safety and environmental professionals
Partners with the Risk Coordinator and HR to drive compliance with Fabcon’s drug testing program
Lead local pandemic response management.
Supervise, mentor, and lead local EHS direct and indirect report team members.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum five (5) years of experience in the EHS field

Ability to develop and implement environment and safety programs
Ability to establish and maintain record keeping in compliance with all company and regulatory agencies
Able to set high standards and get results
Ability to lead, motivate and influence with and without direct authority
Strong situational analysis skills, to identify problems and solutions
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and e-mail)
Good knowledge of state, federal, and local laws pertaining to the general industry and construction industry
Understanding of county and state environmental compliance issues in all areas that Fabcon produces and erects
Preferred Qualifications
Certified safety professional and/or safety degree preferred
College degree desired
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel
Office: Move 25lbs (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of time
Field (periodic): Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer
Plant/Yard (periodic): Move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projection
Work Environment
This position works in office and plant environments with occasional travel and visits to field construction sites
Office: Quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lighting
Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles
Plant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkways
