The Role ...
We're offering a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with one year of payroll experience who is eager to expand their knowledge into benefits administration. This role provides a dynamic environment to continue learning and growing long-term in payroll and benefits, with the support to develop new skills and build a rewarding career in these essential areas.
In this role, you will perform all activities related to the processing of the Company's multi-state bi-weekly payroll and maintains related records. Additionally, you will provide operational support with administering employee benefit and total reward plans, the benefit enrollment process, and wellness activities. As the point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries, you will provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a smooth and positive experience for all employees.
This is a full-time non-exempt hourly position and is located at our Secaucus, NJ corporate headquarters, with the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule.
Your Responsibilities ...
Payroll
- Enter, maintain, and/or process information in the payroll system; information may include commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, taxing jurisdictions, and other information
- Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions
- Apply for and set up taxing jurisdictions when establishing employment in a new state
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
- Monitor payroll liabilities by reviewing payroll runs to identify any discrepancies
- Review the bi-weekly general ledger interface to identify any discrepancies and advise management accordingly
- Issue, or reissue, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors
- Take on the Payroll Manager's duties in their absence, including payroll processing and preparing related reports
Benefits
- Assist in the administration and benefit enrollment of the various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, life insurance, and voluntary plans
- Coordinate and facilitate benefits orientations for new hires and benefits open enrollment activities
- Assist with the development and execution of wellness initiatives
- Generate monthly and quarterly reports, compile various data requests as needed
- Conduct payroll and benefit plan audits. Facilitate audits by regulatory agencies
- Assist with tracking federal and state leaves
- Promptly answer payroll and benefit-related questions and concerns from employees
- Resolve payroll and benefits discrepancies by collecting and analyzing data to determine corrective action
You'll Need ...
- Education: Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- Experience: Minimum of 1-year of experience in a payroll processing role
- Customer Service Skills: Experience working in office environment, providing quality customer service
- Employee Benefits: Knowledge or experience in Employee Benefits is a plus
- Data Entry: Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
- Mathematical Proficiency: Good mathematical abilities
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Suite programs. Experience with payroll software a plus
- Communication Skills: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels
- Multitasking: Ability to organize and prioritize workload, successfully handle multiple demands efficiently and meet deadlines
- Learning Agility: Willingness and ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
- Problem Solving: Ability to problem solve, analyze data, identify discrepancies, and troubleshoot issues
- Confidentiality and Discretion: Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently and proactively while collaborating with a team
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and responsibilities
- Timeliness and Accountability: Ensure workplace efficiency by adhering to scheduled work hours and attendance expectations
