FIFCO USA Refrigeration Operator in Rochester, New York
JOB SUMMARY
The Ammonia Refrigeration Technician will oversee the safe operation, daily monitoring, and maintenance of a large-scale ammonia refrigeration system, and provide assistance to the Chief Stationary Engineer and Maintenance Engineer to ensure assets are managed in accordance with IIAR, EPA, OSHA and applicable State and Local Codes.

SHIFT: 12-hour rotating shifts; weekends, holidays and OT as needed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee and manage the ammonia refrigeration, glycol, and CO2 systems. This includes monitoring, trending, troubleshooting and repairs on compressors, condensers, fans, and their cooling systems.
Log hourly rounds on all refrigeration, air, glycol, CO2, and related equipment.
Operate and maintain various rotary screw and reciprocating compressors.
Responsible for housekeeping and clean-up of refrigeration machine rooms, and all equipment assigned to each individual.
Maintain plant air systems and compressors.
Perform daily monitoring and water testing of condensers and pasteurizers.
Log on into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) on a daily basis for PM work orders and training.
Communicate daily all pertinent information regarding system operation and maintenance to other operators, department managers, and maintenance teams.
Assist the team with maintaining the Process Safety Management Program (PSM).
Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), properly wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and follow all safety and company policies at all times.
Perform other various job duties as needed.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Must pass a City of Rochester R-4 refrigeration exam within 1 year OR hold a minimum R-4 refrigeration license.
Must be able to pass a physical exam for SCBA use.
Must obtain OSHA HAZMAT 24hr. certification within 90 days (Company will pay for the training/certification).
Must be willing to join RETA (Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association).
Must be willing to attend all safety programs offered through employer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to push, pull, climb, crawl, bend, lift at least 25 lbs., and operate hand tools and machinery as needed.
Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time on concrete floors (up to 10 hours per day).
Exposure to outside weather during portions of shift, brewery environment, cleaning chemicals, crowded physical conditions, moderate-to-high noise levels, and extreme fluctuation of temperatures.
Required to pass a negative pressure respiratory mask fit test.

The starting pay rate is $22.30/hour for an apprentice, and $30.94/hour for an R4 license as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
