The Boeing Company is seeking a highly experienced Senior Vertical Lift Flight Test Instrumentation Operations Engineer (FTIOE) to join our team in Ridley Park, PA . This position will support domestic and foreign military flight testing of H-47 Chinook & MH-139 Grey Wolf helicopters. The FTIOE will be responsible for leading teams to develop and operate flight instrumentation electro/mechanical design solutions of varying complexity in support of flight test. Additionally, the FTIOE will perform functions as required to ensure flight instrumentation system readiness and data validity. At times, travel, non-standard/extended working hours, weekends and/or holidays may be required.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Senior Vertical Lift Flight Test Instrumentation Operations Engineer.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead others in the design of test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements

  • Identify required products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes/ technologies required

  • Generate electrical schematics using Visio or available CAD system

  • Coordinate system fabrication, integration, modification, setup, checkout and teardown

  • Identify test requirements and determine test methods

  • Maintain airworthiness configurations

  • Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation system, transducer, and test-related problems

  • Analyze, review, and validate test data to ensure flight test instrumentation hardware and software readiness

  • Conduct research in test technologies to improve efficiency and capability

  • Interface with project / program team members, management, and technical staff to define and implement test engineering solutions

  • Trains and coaches others

  • Work under consultative direction

  • Enterprise engagement to standardize processes and procedures

  • Willing to travel and support flight testing on an as needed basis

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 7+ years of engineering experience in ground and/or flight test environments

  • 7+ years of experience with planning, operation and troubleshooting of instrumentation and data acquisition systems

  • 7+ years of experience with precision test and measurement devices

  • Willing to travel domestically or internationally as needed

  • Willing to work variable shifts; including day, evening, night and weekends

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime and occasional weekends when necessary

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 5 : 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience supporting military flight test programs and execution teams

  • Experience working in a test team environment

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering

  • 9+ years of experience with flight test, flight operations, and system test

  • Experience with IADS visualization tools

  • Experience with L3, SAFRAN, or TELETRONICS data acquisition systems

  • Expert understanding of sensor physics, time-division multiplex, data acquisition systems, telemetry, and calibration methods

  • Advanced electrical design knowledge

  • Experience designing special test equipment for flight programs and supporting proposals

  • Experience developing and maintaining engineering standards and procedures

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range Level 4: $121,550 - $164,450

Summary Pay Range Level 5: $145,350 - $196,650
