York College, founded in 1966, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. The College also offers six graduate programs: Aviation Management, Clinical Trials Management, Pharmaceutical Science and Business, Physician Assistant, Social Work and Nursing Education.

Instructional faculty are responsible for teaching graduate level courses across the curriculum, developing and maintaining an active interdisciplinary research agenda, and student [scholar] guidance, service activities, duties in area(s) of expertise. They share responsibility for college committee and department assignments including accreditation, administrative, and other functions.

Home to the first—and only—MSW program in Queens, New York, the Department of Social Work at York College/CUNY is thrilled to invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at assistant professor rank for our CSWE accredited MSW Social Work program.

The MSW program’s mission to educate scholars for advanced, urban social work practice at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels with a specialization in healthcare settings is consistent with the mission of both the College and the core values of the profession of social work. Scholars will also acquire the knowledge, skills, and values needed to pursue a career in healthcare.

QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate in in social work or social welfare (PhD or DSW) degree; Also required are the ability to teacheffectively,demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

In addition to the qualifications outlined above, the successful candidate must have a NYS License Clinical Social Work (LCSW); required to teach social work healthcare courses; MSW from a CSWE accredited institution; at least 2 years post-MSW practice experience; successful teaching experience in social work education using diverse modalities (in-person, hybrid); promote CSWE nine core competencies as outlined in the 2022 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS); knowledge of CSWE educational standards, a commitment to the University’s mission, strong interests in graduate teaching and be willing to collaborate with others in growing a young but robust social work program as well as for the greater good of the institution. The selected candidate must teach evenings and weekends. The preferred candidate will be qualified to teach at least some of the following specialized courses in health, HBSE, policy, and research.

COMPENSATION

$82,928 - $90,375 - Salary commensurate with education and experience
