What The Role Is

Reporting to the Director of Consolidations and Corporate Accounting, the Supervisor will be primarily responsible for assisting with the month-end close and consolidation processes, Corporate Accounting responsibilities, and overall business needs for financial information, as well as helping with select other projects as needed. This position will provide leadership and mentoring to a team of 1-2 Consolidations accounting staff and will report to the Director, Consolidations & Corporate Accounting based in Princeton, NJ. This role will also be a point of contact with our internal stakeholders, such as the project accountants, corporate accounting teams, financial planning & analysis, and as well as our IT team. In addition, this role will interface with the Company’s internal and external auditors on consolidation accounting-related topics.

This is a hybrid role located in either Princeton, NJ, or Scottsdale, AZ.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform accounting functions necessary to achieve an accurate and timely general ledger month-end close.

  • Responsible for coordinating the month-end consolidation functions for both Clearway Energy Group (CEG) and Clearway Energy, Inc. (NYSE: CWEN). This will include the preparation and/or review of:

  • reconciliations of investment and equity balances, intercompany eliminations, and clearing accounts.

  • financial data submissions from SAP in OneStream.

  • consolidated roll forwards of various balance sheet accounts including equity, noncontrolling interests, and intangible assets.

  • the recording and reporting of non-routine transactions, specifically renewable project dropdowns from the CEG to CWEN.

  • Support the quarterly and annual external financial reporting processes by preparation and/or review of:

  • balance sheets roll forward inputs and presentation in the statements of equity and cash flows for CWEN’s two SEC registrants, including various other consolidated entities with reporting requirements.

  • quarterly controller package schedules to be presented to senior management.

  • Develop a strong understanding of the inner workings of Clearway’s EPM system, OneStream, including eliminations, equity pickup, miscellaneous data management jobs and calculations (i.e., predecessor/successor reporting entities and underlying programming, etc.), including working closely with IT/financial systems support to ensure the accuracy of all system-generated balances and processes and to assist with system upgrades and enhancements (e.g., perform user testing).

  • Manage Clearway’s financial system metadata processes, particularly concerning new legal entity formations and changes. Host monthly metadata management meetings with the Accounting and IT organizations to set expectations and ensure the timely creation of metadata in SAP, OneStream, and other sub-ledgers.

  • Oversee the reconciliation and settlement of intercompany account activity, including:

  • review the preparation of SAP journal entries to equity settle CWEN Corporate’s intercompany payables owed to other Clearway business units.

  • analyze CWEN Corporate’s intercompany receivables and facilitate reimbursement to help manage CWEN’s liquidity position.

  • work with the Legal, Treasury, and Tax groups and communicate with the regional accountants to coordinate equity settlements and minimize rejected settlement requests.

  • Supervise the consolidation accountant(s) including providing day-to-day leadership, guidance, support, training, coaching, and feedback to support their growth and development.

  • Responsible for compliance with Sarbanes Oxley internal controls, process flow, supporting documentation, risk assessments, and monthly/quarterly certifications.

  • Assist with preparing client deliverables for external audits and any follow-up requests for additional support or related corrective action.

  • Assist with ad hoc requests from other departments as assigned (i.e., Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Accounting Research, etc.).

  • Assist with special projects as requested.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or another related field is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in accounting and/or financial reporting.

  • Accounting knowledge: Working knowledge and a general understanding of U.S. GAAP.

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make suggestions aimed to refine and improve systems and processes. Ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets with large data sets.

  • Business Acumen: Ability to understand the Renewable Energy industry and apply the understanding to reported results to increase awareness of potential issues or unusual items.

  • Strong working knowledge of accounting/reporting software, preferably SAP (SAP R/3 a plus), Hyperion Financial Management and/or OneStream, and advanced Excel skills.

  • Project management: Project management and organization skills with a demonstrated ability to navigate in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Ability to set priorities and respond quickly to changing demands from multiple sources.

  • Attention to detail: Ability to observe and identify key details.

  • Collaboration: Ability to develop and maintain cross-functional business partnerships with professionalism, and work independently.

  • Communication skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.

  • Strong willingness to learn new skills and information.

What Would Be Nice

  • CPA designation or working toward certification.

  • Experience in consolidation accounting.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations

$100,000—$125,000 USD
