Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have an outstanding level of desire to lead people with a strong leadership track record of creating/leading/transforming teams. He/she will be an impact player to drive quality and fast impact. He/she will carry a growth mindset, reflected through maximization of the opportunity to reach more patients and an immense sense of urgency for strategy and execution.
Effectively and efficiently collaborate with/advise both the SVP & leadership across the WW Medical Cardiovascular & Immunology organization to evaluate, assess, design, enhance and develop long and short-term strategies (1-5 years).
Lead the team to drive portfolio strategy business development across European, Intercon & APAC Markets to appropriately disseminate global strategy and launch excellence initiatives across markets as it pertains to the Cardiovascular & Immunology portfolio.
Lead portfolio level strategic initiatives such as global advisory boards/engagements with KOLs to drive insights shaping Portfolio Strategic Plans.
Extensive experience translating strategy to actionable projects and initiatives. She/he must be able to drive the successful delivery of project and portfolio objectives by ensuring effective stakeholder management, alignment, and business engagement, and provide guidance to colleagues and business leaders to improve project outcomes and remove barriers to successful execution.
Strengthens bridge between Markets and WWM, escalating needs and identifying synergies.
Identify & infuse technology solutions promoting data driven decision making.
Monitor and assess external trends to inform and educate stakeholders and stay abreast of macro trends in the healthcare environment, therapeutic area market and brand business drivers.
Understand the impact of our medicines on patient factors, including pediatrics, engaging deeply, and gathering insights to guide development decisions, target product profile creation, and commercialization strategy that best meets the needs of our patients.
Lead the strategy for Professional Societies & External Engagement for key centers around the globe to execute on key initiatives including pipeline acceleration efforts, clinical trial recruitment and scientific collaboration for the WW Medical Cardiovascular & Immunology organization.
Establish, maintain, and enhance strategic relationships with relevant, prioritized professional medical societies and associations with a thorough understanding the mission and vision of each organization.
Identify & direct activities based on business priorities and create mutually beneficial relationships.
Anticipates and recognizes policy trends, and implications for BMS and brings these insights back internally.
Lead and align with internal stakeholders in determining the company representation or participation in professional medical societies'/associations' initiatives and interactions, including but not limited to medical society corporate roundtables, forums, science/clinical-to-science/clinical interactions.
Work extensively with BMS senior leaders across multiple departments at BMS including WW Medical Cardiovascular & Immunology Development, Discovery, Translational Medicine, HQ and Worldwide Medical, Commercial, Public Affairs, Access, and Clinical Operations (as needed) to optimize BMS interactions with the professional societies and professional associations.
Develops and applies evaluative outcomes and insights to programs and activities to monitor success.
Educates internal stakeholders about professional societies and the functional role.
Thoroughly understands the complex and evolving healthcare environment and landscape and ensures that all interactions and strategies are implemented accordingly and compliantly.
Ensure that all activities comply with company policy and legal and regulatory requirements.
Strategically manages budgets in alignment with departmental objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry and considerable experience with stakeholder engagement, partnerships (public and/or private) and/or professional medical societies & associations (preferred).
BA/BS degree minimum requirement in area relevant to Pharmaceutical industry/ Life Sciences or advanced degree (i.e.Pharm.D., PhD, MD, MS etc...)
US/Global experience preferred. International experience highly desirable.
In-depth understanding of the drug development process across the spectrums of development and commercialization
Demonstrated strength in understanding overarching company goals, performing strategic assessments, and developing clearly framed choices and recommendations.
Experience with evaluating business development opportunities preferred.
Proven track record of managing complex interactions that drive business strategy & priorities engaging both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in analytics, particularly in relation to product launches
Experience in project and/or portfolio management with the ability to develop clear action plans and execute.
Able to innovate, analyze and solve problems with attention to detail.
Highly collaborative, possess a track record of building and maintaining cross-functional relationships, and able to communicate business topics effectively with senior management, peers, and others.
Previous cross-functional experience is desirable as this position requires a high degree of interaction with teams encompassing Patient Advocacy, Medical Affairs, Research & Development, Commercialization, Corporate Affairs, and other enterprise-wide teams
Ability to lead and represent the company and, where appropriate, within a large complex organization and/or within small working teams
Proven track record of effective people management including coaching, motivating and development planning in a multicultural environment.
