Description
SUMMARY: Request products as determined, weekly cycle counts; follow up on order status with Purchasing to ensure stock availability. Will also handle ordering and replenishing products on the patient care units along with the other departments we supply with products. Department’s main focus is the distribution of supplies and equipment to all areas of the facilities to support patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff will have to project usage of products and order par cart levels daily in all service areas
Notify management of all overstock/picking errors to be returned to the Distribution Center
Maintain effective communication with customers, co-workers, and other team members
Provide accurate documentation of all department transactions
Completes all scheduled and unscheduled assignments in a timely manner
Deliver items/requisitions to appropriate area after receipt
Answer phone/vocera in a friendly and courteous manner
Take down all information for a General Stock Request and delivers supplies to appropriate personnel/unit
Report any item shortage to appropriate personal
Receive all items using the proper equipment and receiving procedures
Deliver all possible Fed Ex, UPS, Air Borne and any other requested items by the end of the business day
Maintain a clean and orderly environment for the Materials Handling Departments areas of responsibly
Complies with all JACHO regulations as outline for Inventory storage: All supplies 18” ceiling clearance from sprinkler heads; No supplies/bins left on floors; No cardboard in clean areas; Rotate stock and check for expiring products
Perform physical inventory counts during semi-annual inventory
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Requires 2 years’ experience in healthcare or 2 years’ experience in warehousing, supply chain management, or purchasing. Prior computer experience.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FACTORS
Physical: Lifting approximately (70 lbs.) is involved in this position, along with walking, stooping, kneeling, and standing. Must be able to push and pull a variety of carts and material handling equipment.
Mental: Heavy workload daily (Answering phones, filling orders for supplies, communication with nursing staff, purchasing and other medical center staff. ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS Clean working environment with some poor lighting, drafty work areas. The Materials Handling Department is a fast paced quality and patient care supply area. Staff must also remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency.
