NY Employer Farmworker and Laborer in Plattsburgh, New York

14 fulltime seasonal H-2A jobs available 08/26/2024 - 10/26/2024.

All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in the job order and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box 3 & 4, page 1. This work order is for qualified people to perform the duties related to harvesting produce in an apple orchard. Workers will also be responsible for picking pumpkins, may also be required to pack apples. Workers must be able and willing to work in varied weather conditions including hot, humid summer days during harvest as high as 90 degrees with damp mornings. Workers must be able to pick apples and handle and climb a 20 foot ladder repetitively while carrying an apple picking bucket which is harnessed over the workers shoulders. Workers must be able to lift and carry 80 pounds on a frequent basis. In addition, workers will be asked to drive tractor, pick up brush from orchard floor, repair broken bins, plant and water trees, and drive truck to remove apple bins from the outlying orchards at harvest time. Workers will operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license, no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the worker to reach production standards. When harvesting apples, productivity must be at least 60 1-1/8 bushel boxes per 7 hours worked with no more than 4% bruising for fresh market. Employer will furnish to workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform duties assigned. Workers must be available to work Saturdays. Workers referred against this order must have a minimum of 3 months experience. Workers may require to work 7 hours shift between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm from Monday through Friday, and may require to work 5 hours shift between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm on a Saturday. Worker will be given 30 minutes for lunch. Beginning and ending times will vary depending on the conditions in the orchard. Workers must be able to take directions in simple English.

  • Repetitive movements/extensive pushing, pulling and walking/frequent stooping.
