ASM Global Utility Teamster in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an immediate, full-time opening for an experienced Utility Teamster for ASM Global/David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The incumbent is expected to perform in-house and decorator / show work, perform daily calls to work in meeting room setups, organization, forklift usage, equipment maintenance and follow all OSHA safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Service decorator / show work, loading and unloading of equipment determined by event needs.

  • Read and understand technical diagrams and measurements for room setups and client requests.

  • Set meeting rooms in accordance with diagrams and additional specifications.

  • Maintain inventory of frequently used materials and items applicable to day-to-day operations.

  • Assist with the completion of annual inventory.

  • Maintain organization of shop, storage areas, and service corridors.

  • Report daily maintenance and housekeeping needs for the building.

  • Maintain equipment as appropriate to ensure safe and reliable functionality of all necessary equipment.

  • Complete employer required training for the purpose of maintaining current knowledge of job, rules, regulations and safety policy and procedure.

  • Operate equipment including but not limited to forklift, utility carts, pallet jacks and other mechanized material handling equipment.

  • Maintain all equipment used and return to designated storage areas and ensure is in good working order.

  • Adhere to DLCC sustainability and safety standards and protocols.

  • Interact with all DLCC Customers and Clients in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Perform all work in compliance with ASM Global guidelines.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • N/A

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 Years' experience working banquet setup / convention setup / material handling.

  • Candidate will be required to join Teamster Local 249 Union Hall upon completing the 90-day probation period.

  • Experience with event operations preferred.

  • Ability to interact well with all levels of staff, clients, and the public.

  • Experienced safe operation of mechanized equipment preferred.

  • Prior certification on powered equipment preferred with the ability to obtain future employer sponsored operation certifications per OSHA standards i.e. forklift.

Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge -- Keeping up-to-date technically and applying knowledge to job. Getting Information -- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources. Basic computer skills preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Position requires frequent walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, driving, lifting, and carrying over 50 lbs. daily.

  • Ability to enter and exit equipment safely with good eye and hand coordination and reflexes for the safe operation of equipment.

Work Environment:

  • This position is its own classification that will perform both in house and decorator / show work.

  • This position requires work inside and/or outside of the building, as needed by events and is subjected to changing climate and adverse weather conditions.

  • The worker is subjected to noise. Noise levels will vary depending on task and events in the building.

  • The worker is subjected to a variety of physical conditions, such as, moving vehicles including powered industrial trucks and pallet jacks.

  • Position requires knowledge of safe operation of equipment, such as service / utility carts, forklifts, pallet jacks and motorized pallet jacks.

  • Position requires a flexible schedule that will vary from week to week as determined by event needs.
