Senior Research Scientist

Job Summary

Serves as subject matter expert and conducts independent scientific research projects from inception to presentation. Prepares and crafts various complex documentations of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations. Trains undergraduates, junior lab members, and research technicians. Manages laboratory policies and coordinates high-level work and project development in collaboration with other specialists.

Essential Functions

We seek a creative, self-motivated senior Research Scientist with excellent interpersonal, writing, and problem-solving skills to join our dynamic drug design discovery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for computational pharmacology and Big-data type project. The qualified candidate will work with the interdisciplinary research team to manage and develop large healthcare datasets, create analytic data files using programming techniques to extract and aggregate raw data, conduct statistical analyses, and document programming and results.

The ideal candidate must possess a robust background in Pharmacy, showcasing expertise in data management and proficiency with analytical, statistical, or machine learning software packages such as R, SQL Developer, and SAS. Experience working with large healthcare or medication-related databases, including electronic health records and Medicare data, is highly desirable. Additional responsibilities include assisting with preparing manuscripts, preparing sections of grant proposals, and overseeing students' programming and analyses for student research projects.

Qualifications: A minimum of three years of experience working with large healthcare or medication-related databases (such as electronic health records or Medicare data) is highly desired; a Ph.D. degree in Pharmacy, Biostatistics, Health Science, Healthcare Management, or a related field is required; specific experience with Alzheimer's disease and its comorbidities, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease, is preferred. Clinical experience is a plus; working experience with pharmaceutical science research and drug design (computational pharmacy, system pharmacology, drug-target interactions) is a plus; good understanding of machine learning theory, artificial intelligence deep learning and algorithms, such as generative AI, GNN, CNNs, k-NN, naive Bayes, SVM, decision forests, ensembles, and decision trees; good coding skills and knowledge of scientific, distributed programming like R and SAS; and experience with GPU programming and computing, web/mobile application development, big data analysis, network information security, and web services methodologies are desired.

Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
