Senior Research Scientist

The Chamberland Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh is looking to hire a Senior Research Scientist. The Senior Research Scientist will be responsible for managing the laboratory's day-to-day operations, ensuring all research projects are executed efficiently. This role includes managing laboratory budgets, maintaining high standards of laboratory safety and compliance, performing experiments, analyzing data and preparing manuscripts for publication. The Senior Research Scientist will also teach and guide junior team members in performing experiments and analyzing data. A PhD in Neuroscience or in a closely-related field is required.

Key Responsibilities: -Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the lab, including scheduling, equipment maintenance, and inventory management. -Ensure compliance with institutional safety regulations and ethical guidelines in all laboratory operations. -Manage the laboratory budget, including purchasing of equipment and supplies and optimizing resource allocation. -Contribute to research projects, including experimental design, data analysis, and publication preparation.

 

Job Summary

Serves as subject matter expert and conducts independent scientific research projects from inception to presentation. Prepares and crafts various complex documentations of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations. Trains undergraduates, junior lab members, and research technicians. Manages laboratory policies and coordinates high-level work and project development in collaboration with other specialists.

Physical Effort

This position requires the ability to lift moderately heavy laboratory equipment (20 lbs).
