UPMC Research Technician - Urogynecology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full Time Research Technician Clinical Research to support the Urogynecology lab!

Dr. Liang and Dr. Artsen are part of the Translational Research Laboratories in Urogynecology. Their areas of research focus include 1) comprehensive analysis of commonly used biomaterials in urogynecologic procedures including the impact of diabetes, wound healing, biofilm formation, the microbiome and other aspects, 2) defining mechanisms of failure after reconstructive pelvic surgeries, 3) designing novel devices for surgical repair 4) defining mechanisms of maternal birth injury, and 5) vaginal biofabrication for women experiencing massive tissue loss. The group has expertise in computational modeling, cellular and molecular biology including both traditional and high throughput platforms, soft tissue mechanics, mechanobiology, tissue regeneration and immunomodulation.

This position will work Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm with some variability for animal experiments. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.

This position is grant funded.

Under supervision, the Research Tech Clinical Research is responsible for accurately performing research projects according to established study design and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe clean laboratory-working environment including appropriate equipment maintenance and usage, by conforming to laboratory and Hospital policies and standards.

  • Administer questionnaires and assist with procedures for obtaining patient screening and recruitment as well as obtaining research specimens.

  • Assist in performing research protocol experimental procedures, under close supervision, including appropriate collection, recording, storage and analysis of data.

  • Prepare, label, store and dispose of reagents and calibrates equipment for research projects.

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· One year of college training or one year of experience working within a biomedical research laboratory environment required.

· Bench lab work experience preferred.
