Little Sisters of The Poor Dietary Aide Full Time in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

SCHEDULE: 10:30AM-7:00PM (Monday through Friday)

Job Summary:

  • *Follow regulations for dietary service, food handling, sanitation protocols, infection control, equipment usage, waste management, food storage, food distribution, and safety protocols.
  • *Follow essential components of therapeutic diets and ensure proper meal service setup according to the Homes's requirements and standards.
  • Promote the home-like setting and enhance socialization with residents.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of foods as instructed, considering the designated temperatures, and maintaining temperature logs.
  • *Transport food carts from and to the main kitchen following temperature and safety standards.
  • *Maintain assigned areas and equipment cleaned, sanitized, and organized, performing routine cleaning of kitchen, and dining equipment, washing table linens, towels and cloths, and handling with care assigned equipment, properly reporting any issues.
  • Sweep and mop designated areas after meals.
  • Maintain the kitchen stock with supplies and products needed and in optimal conditions, properly dating food items in refrigerator and pantries.
  • Assist residents with dining needs and monitor meal consumption and report any residents who experience a change in appetite or eating habits.
  • Follow proper procedures in ordering and/or stocking of goods, products, utensils, and other equipment in assigned area.
  • Participate in activities in the Household or as assigned by supervisor and assist in transporting residents to activities if necessary.
  • Perform any duty as necessary to fulfill the primary duties and responsibilities of the position, as well as those assigned by your supervisor or management.

PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Stand 85% to 100% of typical work shift.
  • Lift/carry objects more than 20lbs, and push/pull carts and occupied wheelchairs more than 50lbs.

· Walk, bend, twist, stretch, lift, be on one's feet for extended periods of time.

  • Concentrate on moderate detail related to table set-up and therapeutic diets.
  • Remember simple and multiple tasks and assignments related to job responsibilities without frequent reminders.
  • Learn and utilize educational in-service information.
  • Read table tickets and special request orders.
  • Have adequate hearing to hear within the range of a raised voices, receive verbal instructions, and answer phone calls.
  • Communicate effectively in English with Residents and others.
  • Deal effectively with stress created by Residents' illnesses, disabilities and the aging process, organizational change, and working cooperatively as part of the health care team.
