Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Health Professions is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions. The Temporary Research Assistant responsibilities includes research activities, coding, statistical analysis, and assist the faculty member in completion of an original research study.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Directly responsible for providing research activities support to faculty mentor.
  • Download the portions of the databases that are publicly available.
  • Help prepare permissions to download special requests associated with the databases.
  • Review existing coding of variables.
  • Recode variables as needed with faculty.
  • Compute relevant descriptive statistics.
  • Examine statistical associations among age at death cause of death, other conditions including mental illness.
  • Do analysis contrasting age of death by condition.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in a mental health related field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
  • Sufficient keyboard and spreadsheets skills to work with widely used programs such as Excel, SPSS, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in psychology, psychiatric rehabilitation, rehabilitation counseling and social work graduate program preferred.
  • Research experience preferred.
