A Day in the Life
Renal Denervation (RDN) is an innovative procedure that helps patients lower blood pressure. The technique targets specific nerves near the kidneys that can become overactive and cause high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. High blood pressure is a global epidemic, affecting one-third to one-half of adults.
We are seeking a Manager with knowledge of RDN or an experienced people manager with an affinity for field-based work. The Senior Market Development Manager will oversee the activities of Market Development Specialists in the East Area, and partner with sales district managers on account selection, and the implementation of market development strategies and programs in the field.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a developing, dynamic team that will be responsible for introducing a new therapy that will potentially transform healthcare in the United States. Medtronic is committed to its clinical program and bringing Renal Denervation to the US market. Its received FDA approval in November 2023. A DAY IN THE LIFE:
Elevate ideas from the MDS team and customers to the Market Development Specialist Team Director to shape and support the strategy for referral and patient-directed HTN disease education, and upon FDA approval – RDN therapy adoption.
Be an expert in clinical data and hypertension program planning resources for MDS team members, customers, and sales District Manager partners.
Oversee the field-based Market Development Specialist team through field rides. Provide coaching and feedback throughout and within post-ride call reports. Assure consistency for program implementation and tracking among the Area MDS team.
Participate in high-level customer meetings with key stakeholders – administrators, treating and referring physicians -- representing Market Development in conjunction with the local MDS and sales representative.
Drive the Area MDS team to utilize the organization’s customer relationship management (CRM) software to track program activity. Partner with sales operations counterpart to track CRM utilization by the MDS team, and accurate reporting.
Build trust and collaborative relationships with Sales District Managers within the Area for the purposes of quarterly account selection and review to streamline the implementation of approved programs by field teams.
Manage the MDS team program budget and report tracking to budgetary allowances quarterly. Achieve annual budget goals.
Hire new MDS team members for expansion geographies, and work in partnership with the Sales Training Director for onboarding activities and acceleration of time to competency.
Develop relationships with society chapter leads, patient advocacy groups, and key-opinion-leaders in the Area.
Conduct quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reviews of metric achievement. Engage in annual discussions with MDS team members for career development planning.
Support and exemplify a strong culture for the MDS team, centered around optimism, collaboration, customer orientation, ethics, and execution.
Partner with Manager counterparts of Reimbursement Economic and Field Clinical Research Specialist teams to meet reimbursement and clinical needs of customers.
Gain depth of understanding of compliance and legal guardrails for market development and assure that programs are implemented within guidance. Assure Therapy Awareness Programs are conducted according to Medtronic expense guidelines.
Meet, collaborate, and provide routine updates to the Director of Market Development.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Must Have:
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum seven years of experience in marketing, program or market development work, or sales (five years with Advanced Degree)
Minimum five years of managerial experience including programs or people leadership
Nice to Have:
MBA or Master's in Business, Hospital Administration, Nursing, or Life Science
Entrepreneurial, healthcare marketing, or consultative selling experience in medical devices, or pharmaceuticals highly desired
Experience working in the CV suite of a hospital, such as Cath Lab, CV program coordinator, or CV program leadership
Knowledge of hypertension or experience working with hypertensive patients
Experience in developing a new market, i.e. implementation of key tactics, execution and performance tracking

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$157,600.00 - $236,400.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
